- Leeds Children's Theatre is an amateur/voluntary arts society with a membership age of 7 to 83 years.
- The society holds regular drama workshops for our members, and we usually produce two plays each year in a professionally equiped theatre, such as the Carriageworks Theatre, that are suitable for audiences of children, young people and their families.
- LCT is very well established. Started in Leeds in 1935 by local teachers who believed in the benefits of introducing live theatre to school children, often for the very first time. This is still a priority.
- Our members do everything necessary to stage plays. Of course we have actors and performers, but we also create everything including the costumes, scenery, lighting and sound design, props making, set design and construction, makeup design, plus all of our posters and publicity too.
Lots of specialist knowledge and skills are needed to "put on plays" ... onstage and backstage!
